NOLA....UPDATE

We made it!  Just in time for the group meeting.

More updates tomorrow.

Recap:  Meet up time 5:30am.  Finally arrived 9:00pm.  4 vehicles later.

More to come tomorrow.

NOLA Update

Getting closer.  We now have 2 fully functional vehicles that also provide enough seats for the mission work once we finally arrive.  Dinner time with Ashton and Nolan.  From what i hear the two people movers (all students) have already arrived.  We are about an hour and a half out.

First Irving Mission Trip - NOLA

This gets crazy.  And i will clean it up as we go.... but here it is so far.

1.  Church People Mover - Large. Loaded up and on the road.
2.  Church People Mover - Small.  Loaded up and on the road.
3.  Church van -  side doors wont open.  Trailer attached as it is the only vehicle with a hitch.

The van is having issues where the compressor is going out.  There is no a\c when going uphill.   The van cant handle the weight of the trailer.  Sending the people movers on..  Taking the van back to church.

Attempt to swap out for a suberban at church, but the weight of the trailer and the suburban not having an electric brake assist is a no go.

Hooking trailer up to Nolan's truck.

Taking suburban and truck.  This gives us enough seats where we dont need to rent a van.

Nolans truck just bit the dust.  It wont stay drive.  Pulling over.

Someone from church is bringing their truck to swap out.  Now to sit and wait an hour.

Sitting as a rest stop waiting on the other truck to get here.  Watching Nolan try on women's cowboy hats.

To recap, we met at church at roughly 5:30 am and we are only about an hour away from home....some 6 1\2 hours later!

More updates as things occur.

July 2015 - July 4th in Glen Rose

An easy two day trip.  We met up with the Eastham family in Glen Rose and enjoyed a day of hiking the trails of Dinosaur State Park, swimming in the Paluxy River, and jumping/climbing through the rocks of Big Rocks Park.  If you're ever looking for a great stay in this area, ask for Dallas (front desk attendant) at the Best Western.  She will take amazing care of you and has the best customer service we've experienced in a while!

November 2014 - NOLA - MISS

November 2014
Road Trip:  Texas to NOLA to Miss to NOLA and back to Texas

1400+ miles in 5 days!  What a trip!  In our first Road Trip as a ministry team we packed in both a good amount of fun as well as good opportunities to get our hands dirty.

We set out from Texas and made it to Pineville, Louisiana for the first leg of the trip.  A huge shout out to First Baptist Pineveille for allowing us to crash on the floor of their church!  They were in the middle of construction, but free a place to sleep is a free place to sleep and for that we were grateful!  The next morning we headed on in to New Orleans were we met up with our good friends over at The Jesus Project located in the Hollygrove district, the 17th Ward.  We took part in their annual Cajun Thanksgiving Outreach and helped feed about 400 people.  Music, games, crafts...an all around good time.  We departed that night for the third leg of our journey heading up to Oxford, Mississippi.  We arrived about midnight and sleep in as late as possible.  Once there we spent a few days with the Jackson family.  We helped work their land (clearing leaves, splitting wood, anything they needed) and in return we had some the best home cooking you can imagine!  For the final leg of the road trip we headed back down through Louisiana for a stop at the Duck Dynasty location.  We hit it at just the right time as there were only a few others visiting.  No lines for pictures, no lines for the gift shop, and best of all no lines for the restroom!

1 suburban, 8 people, 3 states, 1400+ miles, 5 days, and just at 24 hours of time spent in the car together.  I would do this trip with this group of people again in a heart beat!
